Role Purpose





As a Legal Assistant you will be working in a demanding environment where your quick thinking, strong work ethic, attention to detail and accuracy are vital attributes. The Residential Property department is a busy team and is looking for a Legal Assistant to provide administrative support. You will need to develop a broad understanding of legal matters, client requests and the demands of your team.

Key Responsibilities





In line with policies and procedures key responsibilities include:


Opening new matter files and managing initial client ID checks (as appropriate for non-fee earner tasks) Client care letters Logging information onto new CMS Requesting redemption figures Issuing contract packs Ordering searches Giving general updates General drafting (e.g. transfer deeds, notice of assignment, search and mortgage reports etc) General administrative duties Correspondence including exchange and completion letters Pre-completion searches Drafting Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) forms Setting up completions Assisting with post completion including Land Registry applications and notices to landlord

Personal effectiveness and self-management Good communication skills with colleagues, clients and third parties Excellent organisational and team skills Good attention to detail Flexible and dependable, able to take the initiative Able to remain calm under pressure and work to tight deadlines Conscientious, approachable and enthusiastic Able to quickly build confidence, respect and trust with others Previous experience in residential conveyancing experience is essential.

Technical Knowledge




Proficient use of Microsoft Packages (e.g. Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
