Job Description

Role Purpose

Our vision is that every child and young person has a safe and happy childhood. To help achieve this, the role will:

Provide a 24/7 service working directly with children, young people, and their families. Liaise with other agencies and professionals to achieve positive outcomes as directed by care plans and line management.
Key Responsibilities

Work as part of a team and individually to provide flexible, responsive, high?quality, person?centred care. Support children and young people through stimulating and safe activities both within and outside the home. Build and maintain professional relationships with children, young people, and their families, offering emotional, social, and practical support. Establish links within the community to assist children, young people, and families. Support with personal care, administration of medication, and clinical procedures in line with policies and procedures. Ensure the voices of children and young people are heard and responded to, promoting communication and participation. Maintain registration requirements in line with relevant professional bodies. Undertake household tasks (e.g. cooking, cleaning, shopping) and support young people to develop independence. Contribute to the development and evaluation of care plans, attend planning meetings, and report issues to management. Refer matters requiring specialist or management support appropriately. Record observations and maintain accurate files (paper and electronic) using agreed systems and procedures.
Qualifications & Training

Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) - or willingness to achieve within two years of appointment.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Willingness to participate in relevant training (on?the?job and off?site). Experience of providing care and support, with sensitivity to the needs of others. Strong written skills for note?taking and record?keeping. Effective communication skills. Ability to manage challenging situations within the remit of the role. Organisational skills to plan and prioritise work once directed. Competence in Microsoft Office packages. Understanding of health and safety in the workplace. Awareness of diversity and its relevance to the role. Knowledge of safeguarding and risk assessment. A professional and caring approach consistent with the values of high?quality childcare.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary

Pay: 13.06-14.00 per hour

Shrewsbury SY3: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
