ROLE



You will work as a team member, providing direct day-to-day, therapeutic care and support to children with social, emotional and behavioral difficulties.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES



Be a member of a team of professionals, providing therapeutic care and support to children. Ensure the emotional and physical wellbeing of all the children by meeting their needs in line with the National Minimum Care Standards and Hopedale's policies and procedures. Ensure that the dignity of all children in residence is upheld; giving children choices and flexibility as far as it is possible in relation to their expressed wishes. Meet the emotional needs of children through providing a structured environment which as far as possible builds on the strengths of their experience in their natural family or previous placement. Attend and take an active part in review meetings, children's meetings, team meetings and performance management sessions. Participate in duties within the home as directed by the Directors, Registered Manager, Deputy Manager, or Senior Residential Support Worker. Participate fully and flexibly in the working rota, including sleep-in and waking-night duties, on a regular basis Act flexibly within reasonable bounds, in order to ensure necessary staff cover for the home. Inform colleagues of relevant developments and progress of children. Work with team members to achieve a warm, familial, therapeutic atmosphere within the home. Participate in achieving high standards of cleanliness, laundry, cooking of meals and other household duties as requested by a senior member of staff. Encourage and support the children in becoming part of the community, utilising local services. Encourage children to participate in in-house hobbies, activities, alternative therapy and therapy sessions. Have an active role in assisting older children in achieving a realistic standard of independence. Be alert to signs of distress or abuse, and to ensure that residents and staff are monitored and protected. Be sensitive to the needs of individual children, taking account of race, culture, language and religion. Actively promote and celebrate diversity. Follow the Hopedale behaviour and physical intervention policy, and direction from therapeutic input when supporting children. Maintain a high level of recording and report writing. Participate in formal training, supervision, appraisal, and induction; actively pursuing relevant qualifications Take on a 'Key Worker' and/or 'Co-Key Worker' role as directed, involving yourself in the hobby chosen by your Key Child. Support and supervise family contact sessions. Administer medication in line with Hopedale policy and procedure. Accompany children on vacations. Take part in outdoor education sessions, where required. Contribute to low level maintenance of the garden. Be a positive role-model to children in the home. Transport children, as directed. Regularly review and update risk assessments with your team. Gain insight and knowledge of all aspects of residential support work at Mill Rise House. Work within the Hopedale Ethos; promoting and working towards our shared vision. Any other reasonable tasks deemed appropriate by Hopedale Children and Family Services.

Pay: From 27,037.92 per year

Expected hours: 1 - 42 per week
