Support Workers for Residential Living Flat

Location: Bisterne, Ringwood

You must be able to work weekends, evenings and some Bank Holidays (including Christmas) and cover some sleep-in shifts.

14 per hour + additional pay for sleep-ins and weekend enhancement

Our Residential Flat is home to eight adults with learning disabilities, and we support them to live as independently as they are able. It is not residential care in the traditional sense but some of our residents do need support with personal care.

The flat is set in a beautiful location on the Bisterne Estate, with lovely gardens and outdoor spaces and our Day Services on the ground floor offering a wide range of creative activities and life-skills support.

About the Trust:

We are a values-led organisation where people always come first. Our main purpose is to support adults with learning disabilities to develop the skills and confidence that enable them to live their lives as independently as possible; to participate in their local communities and be valued for the extraordinary contribution they make to our society.

The Trust is a Registered Charity established in 1980 by a group of families whose young adult children had learning disabilities - we now support over 100 people every year.

About You:

You are a kind and compassionate person who is committed to helping people who are disadvantaged by their disability to live their best lives. You are a confident communicator and can interact with colleagues, social workers and families in a friendly but professional manner. You have excellent organisational and problem-solving skills and are self-motivated and can manage your workload effectively alongside the needs of the service users.

Experience in a similar role and an understanding of adults with a learning disability is desirable but we provide the training and support you need to develop your skills and knowledge. You

must be a competent and confident driver and able to drive the flat's private vehicle, a VW Caddy, and be willing to use your own vehicle when required.

About the Role:

The role requires a flexible approach to ensure that each resident receives the support they need in the way they need it. Working as part of a small team, some lone-working is required and providing dedicated 1:1 hours with residents is also a requirement. Administering medication, preparing and cooking meals, providing some personal care, updating resident's Support Plans and facilitating their access to the local community and to external healthcare provision are essential elements of the role.

If you want to make a difference to the lives of people impacted by their disability and believe that your values reflect the values of the Trust, this is the perfect opportunity for you to join an organisation that embraces proactive and collaborative approaches, promotes independent living and choice for our residents and champions equality, diversity and inclusion.
