We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and possess strong communication skills. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing assistance and care to children, ensuring their well-being and development. Your responsibilities will include implementing care plans, engaging with children in meaningful activities, and maintaining a safe environment.
Responsibilities
Provide support and assistance to children in various settings, including home and community environments.
Develop and implement individual care plans tailored to each child's needs.
Engage children in educational and recreational activities to promote their development.
Maintain effective communication with children, families, and other professionals involved in the child's care.
Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times.
Assist with daily living tasks as needed, including personal care and household duties.
Document progress and report any concerns regarding the child's behaviour or development.
Collaborate with team members to create a supportive atmosphere for both children and families.
Specifically take account of the choices, needs and wishes of each young person, involving young people in their own plans and day to day decisions were appropriate.
Take personal responsibility for learning about each young people and the way their past affects them; for 'listening' to the individual; and for reflecting on own practice to continuously develop their own knowledge and skills. Ensuring positive professional relationships are maintained at all time.
Maintain young people's confidentiality at all times.
Develop person centred working relationships with young people, carrying out Key Worker responsibilities in a professional manner.
Attend team meetings, supervisions and appraisals and actively take a role in developing your own continuous professional development
Attend training and enrol and complete any courses which you are required to do so.
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of general health, safety and well-being of children.
Knowledge of legislation
Good written and oral communication skills
Good interpersonal skills, able to liaise across a wide range of interests
Effective organisational skills
Full UK/ EU Driving Licence for manual vehicles.
General knowledge of how children generally develop and learn.
Able to work with web base information/internet
Computer literate in Word, Excel and Outlook
Use of own car.
Experience
Experience of providing practical support. This may have been as a result of paid employment, volunteer work or on an unpaid basis for a family member or friend.
Group and individual work with children
Experience in working as part of a team
Experience in working with children with trauma and loss.
Qualifications
Previous experience working with children is essential.
A valid driving licence is preferred for transporting children as needed.
Background in childcare or related fields is advantageous.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are required to interact effectively with children and families.
Familiarity with developing care plans is beneficial.
Basic IT skills for documentation purposes are necessary.
GCSE in English, Maths & IT (or equivalent)
Diploma Level 3 in CYPD / NVQ Level 3 Working with Children
