Job summary:
The practice is looking for an experienced Respiratory Nurse ideally with a background in Primary Care. There will be an expectation to also consider minor illness duties, but you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe and effective nursing care to the respiratory practice population. We are looking for someone with proven experience and qualifications in Asthma, COPD and Spirometry and focus of the role is to delivery of evidence-based practice to patients The post holder will work collaboratively with the whole general practice and attached teams to meet the needs of patients. The post holder should have experiencing in holding minor illness clinics.

Job responsibilities:
Essential respiratory care to include:
Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs
Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate
Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms
Cross site working
Participate in respiratory clinics - diagnose, review, and manage patients with respiratory conditions
Deliver patient education on inhaler techniques, smoking cessation, and personalised management plans
Contribute to quality improvement
Participate in respiratory clinics
Participate in minor illness clinics
Key duties and responsibilities
Clinical practice
Work with other health care professionals to diagnose, monitor, manage and treat Respiratory conditions
Review medication for therapeutic effectiveness
Work with patients to support adherence to prescribed treatments
Implement and evaluate programmes that promote health and well-being (e.g. smoking cessation and weight management)
Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions
Delivering a quality service
Recognise and work within own competence and professional code of conduct as regulated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
Produce accurate, contemporaneous and complete records of patient consultations, consistent with legislation, policies and procedures
Prioritise, organise and manage own workload in a manner that maintains and promotes quality
Deliver care according to the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) Guidelines and evidence-based acre
In partnership with other clinical teams, collaborate on improving the quality of health care, responding to local and national policy initiatives as appropriate

Participate in the management, review and identify learning from patient complaints and significant events
