Responsible Individual - Children's Residential Services
Location: Remote (Travel to Workington, Cumbria)
Salary: 350 to 500 per day dependent on experience
Contract: 1 day per week / Consultancy basis

Are you an experienced, values-driven leader with a passion for improving the lives of vulnerable children? We are seeking a skilled Responsible Individual to oversee and support our Home in Workington, Cumbria which is awaiting registration.

This is a pivotal leadership role within a forward-thinking organisation dedicated to delivering exceptional standards of care and creating safe, nurturing environments where young people can thrive.

About the Role

As Responsible Individual, you will provide strategic leadership and ensure the home operates in full compliance with all regulatory standards. Working closely with the Registered Manager, you will focus on safeguarding, governance, and driving continuous improvement across all services.

Key Responsibilities

Provide leadership and accountability for the quality and performance of the home. Ensure all services meet the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Ofsted Quality Standards. Support and mentor the Registered Manager to deliver high-quality, child-centred care. Lead the implementation of safeguarding policies and promote a culture of safety and accountability. Prepare for and manage Ofsted inspections, striving for "Good" or "Outstanding" outcomes. Promote continuous improvement, staff development, and evidence-based practice. Oversee staffing, budgets, and resource management for the home. Build and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, social care professionals, and regulators. Lead on staff training, coaching, and performance management.
About You

We are looking for someone proactive, emotionally intelligent, and committed to achieving the best outcomes for children and young people.

Essential Criteria:

Minimum of 3 years' senior leadership experience in children's residential care. Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to achieve this). Strong knowledge of safeguarding, compliance, and Ofsted frameworks. Proven leadership and people management skills. Clear commitment to child-centred practice. Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel.

Managing a Residential Children's home: 3 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:

Drivers Licence (required) NVQ 5 Leadership and Management (preferred)
