Waypoint Care has an exciting opportunity for a Responsible Individual (RI) to join our company in Doncaster, England.

This is a unique and rare opportunity to join a progressive and trauma-informed small group of Children's Homes with a focus on upholding the values and guidelines of a Therapeutic Community.

This position is available on either a part-time basis.

Salary: Starting from 60,000 per annum (pro rata, depending on hours), plus bonuses, pension, and other benefits. 35 days of annual leave, including bank holidays. This role will also come with additional benefits, including a car, laptop, mobile phone, remote working opportunities, increased pension contributions, and performance bonuses.

Waypoint Care is looking for an experienced and professional Responsible Individual to join us. This role is a key leadership position; the incumbent is responsible for supervising Registered Managers in our Homes in Doncaster and ensuring the quality of services provided meets the standards of delivering quality care for our children.

What are the main duties of a Responsible Individual (RI)?

Providing support to each home - Supervise, support, and manage our Registered Managers within the area, enhancing the quality and efficiency of each Home, through improvements in paperwork, operations, training, mentoring, and troubleshooting.

Ensure the Homes are compliant with all relevant legislation, ensuring that the Homes meet a minimum of a 'Good' Ofsted inspection.

Be the designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for Doncaster area, ensuring that all children and staff are safe from harm and abuse.

to ensure that there are adequate numbers of staff in place, that the necessary resources and equipment are in place and that the staff are sufficiently trained.

to have a thorough knowledge of The Quality Standards and The Children's Home Regulations 2015. To understand the Ofsted process, including Registration and Inspections. To be present during Ofsted Inspections and feedback and be able to liaise and work with each Home's inspector.

To ensure the therapeutic thread is embedded in all parts of the care and to work collaboratively with the therapy team to ensure holistic trauma-informed care is provided.

To be involved in care planning, delivering, monitoring, and evaluating outcomes for all children.

Attend regular meetings and collaborate effectively with the Director - highlighting any concerns that may be affecting the operational running of the company or affecting a team, staff members, or young person's development.

Work in partnership with the Registered Managers and Deputy Managers in monitoring the development of staff, identifying any training needs.

Chair management meetings when needed.

Actively learn and progress your own personal development and knowledge and attend and evaluate the delivery of training to staff for effectiveness.

To be able to check the quality and content of the core paperwork within each Home, this will include spot checking and auditing to ensure the consistent quality of care across the Homes.

Ensure administration is adhered to, including Health & safety checks are undertaken within agreed timescales.

Ensure each home has a continuous improvement and development plan which is implemented, monitored, and evaluated.

Ensure admissions and all transitions are managed effectively and sensitively with a high focus on child welfare.

Be responsible for the overall welfare and development of all children and staff.

Provide a caring and supportive environment, visiting the homes on a regular basis to establish a meaningful relationship and extensive knowledge of each child placed.

To provide support to staff dealing with allegations, disciplinary issues, and investigations. Ultimately having the ability to investigate or take control of these issues as and when required.

To have the ability to problem solve and respond to issues as and when they arise in a practical and evidence-based way, critically analysing incidents and developing strategic action plans.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential -

Experience in Residential Children's Social Care with a minimum of two years' experience, ideally as a Registered manager.

A consistently Good or Outstanding record with Ofsted.

A thorough understanding of Trauma Informed Care and therapeutic background. A working knowledge of PACE and effective understanding of what a therapeutic placement looks like for children.

A background and understanding of trauma.

Strong leadership and effective communication skills with a very nurturing side and strong inter personal skills.

Hold a Level 5 diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (Or equivalent)

UK Driving License

Confidence and Understanding of The Children's Home Regulations and all legislation associated with the running of a registered Children's Home.

Confidence when dealing with people, the ability to challenge, guide and mentor.

A clear DBS and positive references from all companies where you have worked with children or vulnerable adults.
