Job Summary:
The Restaurant Logistics Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all logistics and supply chain operations within the restaurant. The role ensures the timely procurement, delivery, and storage of foods while maintaining compliance with UK food safety and hygiene regulations. This position supports operational efficiency, cost control, and supplier management across the business.
This role falls within the Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) Code 1243, which covers Managers in Logistics and is listed as an eligible occupation under the Skilled Worker visa route.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee the procurement, delivery, and storage of all food, beverage, and non-food supplies required for restaurant operations.
Negotiate with suppliers to achieve best value and ensure compliance with quality, safety, and sustainability standards.
Plan and maintain inventory systems, ensuring stock availability while minimising waste and loss.
Coordinate delivery schedules and logistics to support the daily operation of the restaurant.
Maintain and update supplier and purchase records, ensuring traceability and accountability.
Ensure compliance with UK food safety, hygiene, and environmental health standards in all storage and logistics processes.
Conduct regular audits of stock levels and supplier performance, preparing management reports as required.
Implement efficient stock rotation and FIFO (First-In, First-Out) practices.
Supervise and train logistics or stock control staff, ensuring adherence to operational policies.
Collaborate closely with management, kitchen, and front-of-house teams to ensure seamless coordination of supply and service operations.
Monitor budgets, control procurement costs, and identify opportunities to improve logistical efficiency.
Ensure all logistical and stock-handling operations comply with company policies and relevant legislation.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience Required:
Proven experience in logistics, procurement, or supply chain management within a restaurant or hospitality environment.
Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills for supplier and internal team coordination.
Familiarity with inventory management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Good understanding of UK food safety, storage, and handling standards.
Ability to work under pressure and maintain accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field (preferred).
Equivalent professional experience in a relevant managerial role will also be considered.
