Restorative Justice Officer in the Youth Justice Service

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a 12-month secondment as a Restorative Justice Officer within the East Riding Youth Justice Service.

We recognise that restorative approaches have the capacity to repair and rebuild relationships in a respectful and empowering manner, both within the justice system and across our communities.
We are looking for a passionate, creative and experienced person who can demonstrate tenacity and enthusiasm in making a positive difference to the lives of victims of crime and children working with the Youth Justice Service.
You will have experience of working to the values of restorative justice and will lead on the delivery and development of high-quality restorative justice practice which will contribute to reducing offending, increased victim satisfaction and community confidence.
The post will be responsible for ensuring that the service strengthens victim contact and promotes meaningful victim involvement, in accordance with the Youth Justice Practice Standards. The role will also oversee the monitoring of performance against the objectives and outcomes set out in the Youth Justice Plan, ensuring full compliance with the Victims Code of Practice.
You will liaise with victims to gain their views and offer ongoing support where appropriate. You will also support the development and co-ordination of Referral Order panels and organise a range of community reparation projects within the local area. Additionally, the position will involve the recruitment and co-ordination of volunteers.
The ideal candidate will have:

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • The ability to work flexible hours if needed, include evenings
  • The ability to work independently but also as part of a team
Appointment to the post is subject to a satisfactory enhanced disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau and successful police vetting due to the position base being at Beverley Police Station.
