National - Covering UK

Salary \xc2\xa351,000 + Car allowance

12 Month FTC

Hybrid / weekly travel to shops across the UK

We are currently recruiting for a fantastic opportunity for an innovative Retail Business Manager, who is looking to make their mark leading a significant period of change and transformation for the charities retail estate. The retail business manager will lead, coach and develop a high-performing team of Area Retail Managers and Retail colleagues to maximise sales for the Charity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To be accountable for the operational delivery of Retail\'s strategic goals to achieve budgeted sales and profit growth, while actively controlling budgeted expenditure.
  • To implement and drive new income initiatives to grow sales, gift aid, online sales, and donations to maximise profit across the Retail business.
  • To lead, coach and develop a high-performing team of Area Retail Managers, Retail Development Manager and Retail colleagues to deliver commercial gains and defined performance goals. Evidence performance and development plans and interventions to achieve the team\'s respective KPIs.
  • To develop a \'customer first\' culture through the Retail Stores to exceed customer expectations and continually improve customer and donor journeys.
  • To be responsible for the Retail Portfolio Design programme and implementation, effectively planning and mapping new shop locations and rationalising the shop estate where appropriate, completing site visits and business plans (ensuring all new shops are delivered on budget and on time)
  • Produce and deliver a range of financial/non-financial reports for the Retail team, Head of Retail and Trading and Marketing and Income Generation Director
  • To be responsible for Retail operational compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • To be responsible for day-to-day Retail operations and decisions, including efficient logistics planning.
  • To maintain sector knowledge and trends, replicating competitor best practice, continually horizon scanning commercial opportunity.
  • To work with HR business partners to ensure people management issues are resolved and respective HR policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • To work collaboratively with colleagues across multiple departments and develop excellent relationships between the Operations team, shops, Retail field colleagues and shops and communicate updates on Retail activity to relevant stakeholders
The ideal Candidate:
  • Significant experience at similar level ideally in the Charity retail sector
  • Large retail structure experience Circa 100+ Shops
  • Extensive experience of change management - both people and infrastructure
  • Understanding/experience of dealing with challenges that come with significant and extended periods of change.
  • Experience of re-developing and implementing retail strategy
  • Empathetic people person
  • Remains calm under pressure and whilst dealing with challenging/difficult situations.
