About Us:

The Vale of Rheidol Railway is a historic narrow-gauge steam railway nestled in the stunning scenery of Mid Wales. With over a century of heritage, we welcome visitors from around the world to experience our timeless charm. Alongside our renowned railway journeys, our gift shop and mail-order sales are an integral part of our customer experience. We're looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Retail Assistant to join our team and help us continue delivering exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities:

Duties:

Assist with the day-to-day operation of the gift shop, including serving customers, selling tickets, restocking shelves, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment.

Provide excellent customer service, ensuring visitors have a memorable shopping experience.

Assist with the day-to-day operation of the cafe, including serving customers, preparing hot drinks and assisting with the preparation of light meals, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards, assisting with stock rotation and restocking shelves/fridges.

Handle cash, card payments, and transactions accurately.

Maintain accurate stock levels and assist with inventory management.

Respond to customer inquiries related to mail-order sales.

Person Specification:

Customer-focused: A friendly and approachable demeanour with strong communication skills.

Organised and reliable: Able to handle multiple tasks efficiently and manage time effectively.

Tech-savvy: Familiarity with office software.

Team player: Willing to support colleagues across different areas of the business.

Flexible: Open to working weekends and public holidays as required.

Driving Licence: Able to provide own transport for working at either terminus station in Aberystwyth or Devil's Bridge as required.
