Retail Compliance Adviser (payments & Accounts)

London, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Investec is a distinctive Specialist Bank serving clients principally in the UK and South Africa. Our culture gives us our edge: we work hard to find colleagues who'll think out of the ordinary and we put them in environments where they'll flourish. We combine a flat structure with a focus on internal mobility. If you can bring an entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to learn and collaborate to your work, this could be the boost your career deserves.

At Investec, our Retail Compliance team plays a vital role in providing expert advice on regulatory and conduct risks associated with the products and services we offer. We are seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Retail Compliance Adviser to join our team and support our commitment to compliance excellence.

As the Retail Compliance Adviser (Payments & Accounts), you will deliver compliance advice on payments and transactional banking, focusing on key regulatory obligations such as Consumer Duty, Vulnerability, Product Governance, Financial Promotions, and Complaint Handling. You will work closely with various teams to ensure that our operations align with regulatory standards and best practices. The advice we provide concerns the regulatory and conduct risks associated with the business. We draw on our knowledge and experience of all relevant UK regulations that come down to us from our regulators (predominantly the FCA) to support the business whilst helping to ensure our clients are treated fairly and achieve good outcomes.

What you will be doing:

Compliance Advice

- Provide accurate, timely, and practical compliance advice on retail payment products and services, with a particular focus on current accounts and transactional features. This includes advising on the proposition, fair value and the treatment of clients holding these accounts.

Risk Management -

Identify and manage potential regulatory risks, ensuring that issues are escalated appropriately and that we maintain our commitment to treating clients fairly.

Stakeholder Engagement -

Collaborate with business partners to gather data for FCA reporting obligations and disseminate regulatory developments that impact the business.

Policy Development -

Assist in the development and maintenance of internal policies and procedures, ensuring they are aligned with regulatory requirements.

Training and Representation -

Support the creation and delivery of regulatory training and represent the bank at relevant industry meetings and groups.

What we are looking for:

Regulatory Expertise -

Strong knowledge of retail payment and account products, with an understanding of applicable regulations.

Interest and experience -

Experience in areas such as Consumer Duty, Vulnerability, Product Governance, Financial Promotions, and Complaint Handling.

Analytical Skills -

Ability to track changes in market legislation and communicate them effectively to stakeholders.

Communication Skills -

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex regulatory information clearly.

Advisory

- Ability to effectively help co-ordinate the introduction of operational and regulatory changes to the business via advisory activities from a 2nd line perspective

As part of our collaborative & agile culture, our working week is 4 days in the office and one day remote.
