We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Retail Manager to oversee the daily operations of our retail store. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in retail management and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. As a Retail Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team, driving sales, and ensuring that the store meets its operational goals.

BBQ Land was established in 2001 and has evolved from selling outdoor furniture to being one of the UKs leading specialist retailers of BBQs, pizza ovens, accessories and fuels - in addition to a BBQ cooking school.

We're looking for a true Retail Manager to join our team and spearhead growth. This isn't just a "store manager" role. It's a core hire that will shape how BBQ Land shows up to our customers - both in person and online. You'll be trusted with significant responsibility and exposure across the business, from running our display rooms / retail site, to curating our online shop, and helping craft product strategy.
> WHAT YOU'LL DO
Manage Retail Site (Hitchin Display Showroom):
Our Hitchin display site is the heartbeat of the business - part retail space, part showroom, part cooking school - and this role will take ownership of making it thrive:
Lead on site layout and visual merchandising so the store feels inspiring and immersive.
Ensure the site is always customer-ready: clean, inviting, and alive with the BBQ Land brand.
Shape how products are presented - Point-of-Purchase signage, bundles - so visitors convert to customers with maximum basket size.
Onsite activations / demos in conjunction with suppliers.
Customer Experience:
Ensure every interaction (in-store, phone, email) is handled with warmth, expertise, and efficiency. Troubleshoot issues quickly and fairly.
Liaise with our operations / warehouse team to assist resolve more complex customer issues
E-Commerce (Shopify):
Be across our website content, helping to ensure that online content is as compelling as the instore offering - product descriptions, images, bundles etc.
Develop promotions and product groupings to drive sales.
Team Leadership:
Assist recruit, train, and manage the retail team for Hitchin for summer season, creating a high-energy, knowledgeable, service-driven culture.
> SKILLS
Proven experience in retail management, store layout, till management.
Proficient in merchandising techniques to enhance product visibility
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Proactive and energetic
Knowledgable on BBQs - this is what we are the national experts in, so you'll need a deep understanding of the product and passion for outdoor cooking
