, you will take full managerial responsibility for a retail outlet (or chain of outlets) or wholesale?retail combined operations. You will direct all aspects of the business -- staffing, financial performance, merchandising, stock control, customer satisfaction, and compliance -- to ensure sustainable profitability and operational excellence.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Full accountability for sales, profit margins, and budgets at store or regional level.
Forecasting, setting and reviewing financial and operational targets (revenue, margin, costs).
Leading recruitment, training, performance appraisal, disciplinary measures, and development of staff.
Organising staffing rotas, delegating responsibilities, ensuring adequate cover across departments.
Overseeing stock management, including ordering, inventory control, forecasting, supplier negotiations, stock replenishment.
Designing and executing merchandising strategies, product placement, in-store promotions, pricing policies.
Analysing sales data, customer trends, competitor activity; using insight to improve performance.
Ensuring compliance with all regulatory, health & safety, trading standards, and internal policy requirements.
Handling major customer escalations, dispute resolution, and representing the store/business in external dealings.
Reporting to senior management or business owners with regular management accounts, KPI dashboards, and business reviews.
Initiating and driving local marketing campaigns; collaborating with corporate or head office on strategy.
Ensuring operational processes (e.g. point-of-sale, cash handling, security, shrinkage control) are robust and adhered to.

Solid organisational skills, with ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks under pressure.
Technical proficiency in retail management systems, POS, stock control software, MS Office.
Integrity, decision-making, ownership, and resilience in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications & Experience
Substantial experience in retail / wholesale management roles (store manager, area manager, operations manager).
Track record of delivering sales targets, profitability, and managing budgets.
Formal qualifications such as NVQ/SVQ Level 4 or equivalent in Retail / Business / Management would be beneficial.
Education at GCSE, A-Level, or equivalent minimum; degree-level education is advantageous but not mandatory.
