Farm Shop Goodies is a well-loved independent farm shop in South Norfolk, known for quality local produce, friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere. We are now seeking an experienced and motivated Retail Manager to lead our shop floor team and help drive the business forward.
This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone passionate about retail, customer service, and maintaining high standards in a busy farm shop environment.
The Role
As Retail Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the shop floor, ensuring excellent customer service, strong sales performance, and consistently high standards. You will lead by example and work closely with the Managing Director to support the wider business.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the daily running of the shop floor to ensure excellent presentation and service
Lead, train, and motivate the retail team
Ensure shelves, counters, and displays are fully stocked, clean, and well presented
Manage staff rotas, staffing levels, and labour costs
Monitor stock levels, place orders, liaise with suppliers, and minimise waste
Ensure compliance with UK retail legislation, food safety, health & safety, and trading standards
Handle customer enquiries, feedback, and complaints professionally
Maintain accurate records for stock, wastage, staff timekeeping, and incidents
Ensure pricing and promotional materials are accurate and up to date
Carry out regular floor walks and team briefings
Support stocktakes, deliveries, and product launches
Manage merchandising, shop layout, and product displays to maximise visual impact and sales, including planning and delivering seasonal and promotional displays
About You
Previous experience in a retail management role preferably a Farm Shop/ Food hall
Strong customer service skills with a friendly, professional manner
Commercially aware and results driven
Highly organised with strong attention to detail
Confident leading and motivating a team
Comfortable using till systems , Microsoft office and Epos Systems
Calm, approachable, and reliable
Practical Requirements
40 hours per week with weekend availability essential
Willingness to work early mornings and occasional late finishes
