Volmary Ltd is the UK operation of the European Volmary family of businesses. Our business is 100 years old and in total our group employees total over 1500 people, of which 180 work in our Cambridgeshire nursery.

Our Wisbech St. Mary site has 50 acres of land with 20 acres of efficient glasshouses, Polythene greenhouses, energy centres. We are focused on serving UK based growers and distributors with high quality young plants and providing high quality service levels in a friendly and professional manner.

Summary



We are seeking a Retail NPD & Sales Manager to join our dynamic team.

The Sales Manager will report to the Managing Director as part of a small, structured team of eight executives.

Our flat organisational structure has been specifically designed to ensure clear individual responsibilities within our core business process, where a positive atmosphere encourages teamwork and a spirit of mutual cooperation.

Objectives



The Sales Manager will manage a small sales administration team of two and will pro-actively engage with them to maintain and further develop high quality levels of customer service and sales support. They will undertake the NPD work required to develop the existing sector customers and directly influence the NPD direction alongside the technical and operations managers to grow new customers.

Principal Responsibilities



Maintain and grow the sector, acting as point liaison for the Company among existing and new customers. Develop products and services that grow our sales revenue in the sector, working in an innovative and creative way. Manage and supervise a small team of associates who support the sales administration and sales development of a small number of customers in a tight sector. Ensure products align with the core capability of the production unit through liaison with production and general management functions. Accurately cost and source materials for the sector sales and work closely with the purchasing department on securing the necessary flow of goods while maintaining limited stock risk for the

Experience



The successful candidate is likely to be an existing sales manager or have had experience of direct to retailer sales at an elevated level. They will have a strong background and record of achievement in:

Internal communication demands in a challenging environment. Production and project management with a time-critical product in horticulture, food processing or similar. Communication & people management within an agile, 'flat' organisation. Creative problem solving where there is no precedent. Enhancing the B2B customer experience, particularly when dealing with major customers. Financial management of individual projects
The Sales Manager must be pro-active and have the drive, determination, resilience, energy, enthusiasm, and attitude to continuously improve the sales and overall performance of Volmary.

Ideally of graduate level calibre, success within the horticultural sector is not a prerequisite but is highly desirable as is exposure to multiple and online retailers.
