Job Summary


We are seeking a proactive and driven Retail Operations Manager to join our growing charity. This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a hands-on leadership role, managing our retail teams while working closely with an energetic, experienced board of trustees. Together, we are looking to grow the profile of Furniture Now!, develop new initiatives and partnerships, and maximise the difference we make to our communities.

As retail manager operations manager, you will:

Lead and support our retail staff, ensuring high performance and alignment with our mission. Promote the Furniture Now! brand and identify new opportunities to grow revenue across all channels. Work collaboratively with trustees and community partners to expand the charity's reach and impact. Drive operational excellence across our retail and community activities. Responsibilities

Oversee daily store operations to ensure efficiency, compliance and consistency. Ensure all stores deliver excellent customer service and uphold brand reputation Regular visits to each store to ensure that all standards are met, drive sales performance and identify opportunities for growth. Lead, coach and motivate shop managers, assistant shop managers and drivers to achieve sales targets (including performance management, training, and development). Oversight of vehicle allocation to ensure vans used effectively across the three stores in an efficient manner. Support the Board in the recruitment of shop teams and van staff (both paid and volunteers) as required. Responsible for motivating the team, gaining alignment across the three stores, to optimise comms and sales. Ensure stock is allocated to each store to maximise sales opportunities. Seek support from the Chair and Board of trustees when issues are raised across the retail property portfolio. Have an up-to-date awareness of health and safety. Responsible for success of eBay sales. Take control (working with shop managers), providing support, guidance and agreeing operating principles of how we work with eBay and what we sell there. Optimise social media campaigns to increase awareness of Furniture Now! with regular content updates. Provide regular reports to the board on the success of eBay and social media engagement, identifying areas for improvement and development as necessary Ensure adequate spread of volunteers across the three stores and maintain positive volunteer engagement. Keep up to date the volunteer training handbook, inductions, and identify any relevant further training areas. Identify external volunteering supply partners and manage relationships. To provide regular reports to the trustees on the success of individual areas, at trustee meetings. Identify any areas of weakness and raise with the board when appropriate.

Skills and Attributes



Previous experience in retail management

Track record of delivering to budget

Previous experience managing a team of staff

Previous experience managing volunteers, desirable

Proficient with performing formal administrative tasks, analysing and interpreting sales data

Confidently represent Furniture Now! retailing on internal and external groups/committees

Ability to build positive working relationships with both internal i.e., staff, trustees, and external customers, donors, stakeholders

Commitment to Equal Opportunities and Diversity

Previous experience in multi-site management, desirable

Previous experience in maintaining website platforms, desirable

Hold a full driving licence

Self-starter with the ability to work under own initiative, without constant supervision

Good organisational, time management and analytical skills

Ability to work in a demanding and challenging environment

Able to generate ideas and make them happen

Ability to adapt communication style to communicate at all organisational levels

Understanding and commitment to the protection and safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults,

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 27,000.00-30,000.00 per year
