Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic retailer with excellent customer service skills to join our shops in Coventry as a Retail Relief Manager.

We currently have 4 shops in the Coventry area, which are located in - Earlsdon, Coundon, Allesley and Wyken. We are also soon to open a New Shop in Nuneaton and a New Shop in Rugby. We also have an eCommerce Department selling across different online shops.

You will be responsible for relief management cover across our shops to enable the continuous and successful delivery of our customer focussed shop teams that are the 'window of the RSPCA'.

When covering a shop manager position, the post holder will be responsible for achieving that shop's profits and targets and will be accountable for the effective management of finances, stock, premises and administration.

You will lead a team of volunteer staff to assist you in providing an excellent customer experience. Together, you'll maintain a well merchandised shop that pushes the boundaries and maintains the RSPCA image and reputation.

We are looking for an adaptable team player to help support the shops when and where necessary, so flexibility is key to success in this job role. The post holder will use their skills day to day to communicate and deliver the ever evolving retail strategy throughout the retail operation.

The RSPCA Coventry and District is a separately registered charity although we are supported by and work in partnership with the RSPCA National Society. We are primarily self-funding. Our RSPCA Branch has been helping animals and their owners for over 150 years.

Hours of work are 28 hours per week, working 4 out of 7 days.

Salary: 12.41 per hour.

Main responsibilities



We are keen to hear from candidates who have the following skills and experience:

? Experience working in a retail environment at a supervisory level

? Experience with cash handling and banking of monies.

? Experience of using initiative for positive results.

? Ability to use financial information to make informed decisions and achieve financial targets.

? Ability to understand issues related to working with volunteers.

? Ability to interpret and implement working practices and procedures (i.e., relating to volunteer and operational processes)

? Able to work weekends and public holidays if required.

? Able to work additional hours as necessary

? Able to travel to cover other shops and attend training as requested.

? Ability to lift and carry bags and boxes full of donated stock, including clothes and books, and (depending on shop) light/heavy furniture (this is a genuine occupational requirement of the role).

Knowledge, skills and experience



? Highly self-motivated, positive and resilient and who has previous retail and people management experience.

? Full clean driving licence is a necessity.

? A strong communicator with excellent organisational skills, you will have the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with a variety of people and have good knowledge of the issues relating to recruiting and retaining volunteers.

? The ability to be flexible, adaptable and open to change.

? Candidates who have experience of working to income and expenditure targets are highly desirable as are those who have previously worked in the charity retail sector.
