Job Overview

Flexible team member required at independent wine beer and spirits merchant in the beautiful village of Castleton in the heart of the Peak District. We work with dozens of local and independent suppliers to highlight the best of the independent drinks trade locally and beyond at our retail premises. We also supply independent trade wines to a number of on-trade businesses throughout High Peak.

Our wine, beer and whisky range are specialised and we are looking for a team member who is confident selling in store from open sample bottles and with general customer assistance. Potential role development available in digital marketing and/or hosting external events to represent the company.

When working in store shifts are single manned 11-7 or 11-5.

Duties

Greet customers warmly and assist them with their inquiries, ensuring a positive shopping experience. Demonstrate product knowledge and provide recommendations based on customer needs. Engage in upselling techniques to enhance sales and promote additional products. Maintain an organised and tidy sales floor, ensuring that merchandise is displayed attractively. Process transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system, including handling cash and card payments. Manage stock levels and assist with inventory management as required. Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth operations within the store. Uphold company policies regarding customer service, returns, and exchanges.

Experience

Previous experience in retail or customer service is preferred as is relevant experience in wine, whisky and/or beer. Basic maths skills for processing transactions and managing cash flow. A passion for selling and a keen interest in helping customers find the right products for their needs.

Pay: 12.21 per hour

Expected hours: 6 - 16 per week
