We're looking for a proactive Revenues Officer to join our friendly and dedicated Revenues and Benefits team. This is a great opportunity to use your accuracy, problem-solving skills, and customer service expertise to help ensure fair and efficient collection of Council Tax and Business Rates across our district.
What you'll be doing
You'll play an important part in maintaining accurate financial and customer records, while providing clear advice to residents and businesses. Your responsibilities will include:
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date Council Tax and Business Rates records
Dealing with enquiries from the public, colleagues, and external organisations
Providing accurate advice and guidance within the relevant legislation
Recording and managing customer information with attention to detail
Working collaboratively to meet performance targets and service standards
This role offers the chance to develop a strong understanding of local government revenues, with plenty of scope to grow your skills in a supportive and professional environment.
What we're looking for?
Essential:
A minimum of 5 qualifications equivalent to NVQ Level 2 or GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above (including Maths and English)
High attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A customer-focused approach with the ability to handle challenging situations calmly and professionally
Ability to manage time effectively and meet performance-related targets
Strong IT skills, including Microsoft and Google applications
Ability to build strong customer relationships and maintain accurate records
Desirable:
Relevant recognised qualification
Experience of working in a Revenues or debt-recovery environment
Knowledge of Council Tax and/or Business Rates legislation and practices
Experience working within local government
Special conditions
This role may require occasional travel to other Publica Group (Support) Ltd or client locations to meet business needs
You may be required to work reasonable additional hours in line with service needs
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes is essential
