Reward Administrator

Oxford, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

We are seeking a proactive and detail-focused Reward Administrator to join our Reward Team and support the delivery of timely, accurate and equitable reward services across the University.

This role plays a key part in ensuring fair and consistent job evaluation and reward processes. You will provide first-line advice to departments and colleagues on pay, grading and reward matters, while supporting the smooth running of core reward activities.

About the role

A central focus of the role is job evaluation. You will analyse, evaluate and classify roles using the Higher Education Role Analysis (HERA) scheme, ensuring consistency and alignment with agreed grading frameworks. Working closely with managers and departmental HR teams, you will provide expert feedback on grading outcomes, advise on the use of standardised job descriptions, and help ensure job documentation accurately reflects role requirements. You will also review job evaluation data to inform recommendations, contributing to the development and refinement of standardised job descriptions.

You will coordinate the University's regrading process, monitoring timescales, undertaking initial assessments, arranging and conducting interviews, and supporting appeal panels.

Alongside this, you will manage and monitor the Reward inbox, responding to queries on pay, grading and reward issues, investigating more complex cases and escalating them where appropriate. You will act as systems administrator for the job evaluation database, maintain internal systems and processes, update Reward and benefits web content, and support the administration of annual pay exercises.

About you

You will bring strong analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple administrative processes accurately and confidentially. You will be confident communicating with a wide range of stakeholders and producing clear, well-structured written outputs.

You will have:

Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, gained through a good honours degree or relevant professional experience

An understanding of employment law, particularly equal pay

Strong administrative skills and the ability to coordinate processes and meet deadlines

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including providing feedback and drafting job profiles and reports

Experience using spreadsheets and databases (training provided)

The ability to build effective working relationships and handle confidential information with discretion

Experience of analysing roles using the HERA scheme is desirable but not essential.

Why join us?

This is an excellent opportunity to develop specialist reward expertise within a collaborative HR environment, contributing to fair, transparent and robust reward practices across the University.
