What does the role involve?

This role requires a consultant to give expert advice on reward, using external and internal information, including some knowledge of regulatory and legal requirements as well as external benchmarking. . The role further requires the consultant to manage, co-ordinate, facilitate and participate in the UK Specialist Bank annual reward review cycle. Key relationships in the role include: Global Head of P&O; UK Head of P&O; Reward team; Staff Share Schemes; Benefits and Payroll; P&O Leads; P&O Consultants; Careers and Finance.

What are the key responsibilities?

Advise on Remuneration regulatory and legal requirements
The successful candidate will need to:

  • Advise on the interpretation and application of external reward requirements, including all legal and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure that we are compliant with our responsibilities and obligations in these areas
  • Take responsibility for the preparation and submission of annual external reward reporting, including the gender pay gap report and reward submissions to the PRA and FCA.
Remuneration Research:

The successful candidate will need to:
  • Track remuneration and reward trends in the market
  • Research best practice around benefits and rewards
  • Investigate new remuneration models based on business needs
  • Advise on reward packages for new job offers
Annual Reward Review:

Process management of the annual reward process
  • Communication with P&O Leads, People Consultants and business leaders
  • Participation in divisional iteration processes
  • Consolidation and analysis of proposals, followed by preparation of schedules for final approval by the Investec Group Remuneration Committee
  • Assist in the preparation of the remuneration reports in the Annual Report and Accounts
Benchmarking:
  • Ownership of participation in annual external reward benchmarking surveys.
  • Analyze data from reward surveys to determine competitiveness both internally and externally as well as market demands to get a sense of skills scarcity.
  • Do ad hoc specifically requested benchmarking by tapping into other external sources e.g. employment agencies and other remuneration professionals
Data Management
  • Ownership of Reward data management
  • Working with the P&O Tech division to ensure relevant systems are functioning appropriately and lead on system updates when required
What core skills and knowledge are required.
  • Experience of Reward in a financial services environment, including remuneration regulations, reward consulting, benchmarking and surveys
  • Knowledge of employee share schemes
  • Experience of working with and advising business leaders
  • Highly numerate
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to prepare Board level analysis and presentations
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues
