reducing under-occupation
in Council housing by supporting tenants who wish to downsize to smaller, more suitable accommodation.
This role combines housing advice, casework management, and administrative functions, offering an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact on residents' lives while contributing to effective housing utilisation.
Key Responsibilities
Provide advice and support to tenants interested in moving to smaller or more suitable properties.
Promote awareness of downsizing options and financial incentives available to eligible tenants.
Assess and process applications for
sheltered accommodation
,
Seaside and Country Homes
, and other downsizing schemes.
Prepare, process, and maintain documentation related to financial incentives and housing transfers.
Maintain accurate case records, databases, and reports to track progress and monitor outcomes.
Liaise with internal departments, external housing providers, and support agencies to ensure smooth transitions for tenants.
Undertake home visits and assessments where required.
Contribute to continuous service improvements and support the Council's strategic housing objectives.
About You
Strong understanding of
social housing
,
allocations
, and
tenancy management
processes.
Experience providing
housing advice and support
, ideally within a local authority or housing association.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage sensitively with tenants.
Strong administrative and organisational skills, with good attention to detail.
Confident in using IT systems, databases, and Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Essential Requirements
Demonstrable experience in housing services, allocations, or tenant support.
Knowledge of relevant housing legislation and policy.
Strong customer service ethos and problem-solving skills.
Desirable
Experience of working with

Pre-Employment Requirements
