Risk Oversight Manager Change & Transformation

Bournemouth, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Do you have expertise in creating risk-based, pragmatic standards, policies and frameworks, particularly with regards to First Line Risk? We're looking for a Risk Oversight Manager to be responsible for driving the Risk & Control agenda across the UK Health business, with a particular focus on managing risks associated with change and (digital) transformation initiatives. You'll play a critical role in fostering a resilient risk culture within AXA UK Health, enhancing the capability to identify, assess, and manage risks related to transformation projects, digital initiatives, and operational change.

You'll focus on proactive risk management, embedding effective controls within change programs, ensuring that risk management practices support strategic transformation, operational resilience, and positive customer outcomes. You'll work to strengthen the risk and control framework, supporting the business in day-to-day risk oversight, and ensuring that transformation activities align with regulatory requirements, business objectives, and financial plans.

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means either attendance at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events. We're also happy to consider flexible working arrangements, which you can discuss with Talent Acquisition.

What you'll be doing:

Embed a risk-aware culture within change and digital transformation initiatives, ensuring consistent application of the Risk and Controls Framework. Partner with stakeholders to identify, assess, and manage risks associated with change projects, ensuring controls are aligned with strategic objectives. Lead risk and control reviews, providing insights through MI and supporting risk-informed decision-making at enterprise and local levels. Drive the implementation of a Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) program tailored to change and digital initiatives, supporting robust risk mitigation plans. Facilitate cross-functional workshops to map processes, identify control gaps, and develop strategies for risk mitigation and process improvements. Support risk reporting to Boards and Committees, clearly articulating change-related risk exposures and oversight of mitigation actions. Ensure compliance with risk management frameworks, including incident management and remediation activities, especially within change programs. Maintain strong stakeholder engagement across the business, internal teams, and governance bodies, promoting effective risk oversight and continuous improvement.

What you'll bring:

Extensive knowledge of Risk Management Frameworks, tools, and techniques, with experience embedding risk practices within change and transformation projects. Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, capable of communicating complex risk concepts and fostering a risk-aware culture across diverse audiences. In-depth understanding of relevant regulations (FCA/PRA) within insurance, healthcare, and financial services, especially during large-scale change and digital initiatives. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to prepare and deliver clear risk reports for senior leadership, Boards, and Risk Committees. Analytical proficiency in interpreting Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), identifying emerging risks, and determining appropriate escalation or mitigation actions. Pragmatic, adaptable, and commercially minded, focused on delivering value, controls, and risk mitigation in fast-paced change environments. Proven experience in risk oversight for transformation and digital projects, assessing risks related to new technologies and operational changes. Ability to challenge project teams and senior stakeholders, ensuring risk considerations are integrated into decision-making and governance processes.

As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.
