We are currently looking for a

Roofing Carpenter

to join our team in Pembrokeshire.

Job Purpose:



The Roofing Carpenter will be responsible for delivering high-quality roofing repairs, maintenance, and refurbishment works within a social housing environment. The role involves working on both void and occupied properties, ensuring all carpentry-related roofing tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. The ideal candidate will have experience in responsive and planned maintenance, demonstrate excellent customer service, and work well independently and as part of a team.

Responsibility:



Carry out the repair, replacement, or new installation of roofing-related carpentry elements including rafters, joists, fascia, soffits, eaves, gable ends, and roof boarding. Undertake structural timber works associated with roof repairs including hip and ridge supports, timber framing, and truss adjustments. Remove and replace defective timberwork due to water damage, rot, or structural failure. Fit roofline products such as gutter backing boards, verge trims, and timber bargeboards. Support the installation of insulation, felting, underlay, battens, and ventilation systems where required. Inspect roofs to identify faults and assess the extent of deterioration or repair required. Record findings using job management systems or handheld devices, including photographs and detailed repair notes. Report any structural or health & safety concerns to supervisors immediately. Undertake reactive repairs (emergency or scheduled) in occupied properties with minimum disruption to tenants. Contribute to planned cyclical maintenance and refurbishment programmes. Support void refurbishment teams with carpentry-related roofing repairs, including making safe, full strip and replace works, and property reinstatement. Ensure safe working practices are followed at all times including adherence to risk assessments, method statements, and PPE usage. Interact with tenants in a respectful, professional, and courteous manner. Provide updates or reassurance where necessary during works carried out in occupied homes. Ensure tenant homes are left clean, tidy, and secure upon completion of tasks.

Qualifications & Skills:



NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry and Joinery (or City & Guilds equivalent)Asbestos Awareness, Working at Heights, Manual Handling certification Minimum 2-3 years in roofing carpentry; experience in domestic property repairs Experience in social housing, public sector, or insurance reinstatement works Proficient in the use of carpentry tools, saws, power tools, and roofing access systems. Full UK driving licence
