Job Description

Join Our Adventure at Wild Roots Childcare!

About Us

At Wild Roots, we believe in the transformative power of learning through nature and play. Every day, we bring education outdoors, helping children develop confidence, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning. Inspired by Forest School principles and the Froebel approach, we create rich, hands-on experiences using the natural world around us.

Our activities weave key academic skills like maths and literacy into exciting outdoor adventures, while nurturing practical life skills -- from putting on boots to growing and caring for plants. We aim to ignite curiosity, foster independence, and build a deep connection with nature.

At Wild Roots, children are welcomed into a warm, home-from-home environment where they are valued, supported, and given space to thrive. With a passionate and experienced team behind them, every day is a new opportunity to create memories that last a lifetime.

The Opportunity

We are looking for committed, enthusiastic, and inspiring individuals to join our founding team. If you are passionate about outdoor learning and creating magical experiences for young children, we would love to hear from you! Pay is negotiable and competitive.

You will be...

A confident and experienced Early Years professional, ready to take the lead in a dynamic, nature-based setting for children aged 3 months to 5 years. Passionate about child-led learning and skilled in implementing the EYFS framework in creative and meaningful ways -- especially in an outdoor environment. A strong leader who can inspire and support a team, manage the day-to-day running of the room, and ensure high standards of care and education at all times. Organised, proactive, and calm under pressure, with the ability to make sound decisions and delegate effectively when needed. A creative thinker who brings fresh ideas and energy to activity planning, fostering a love for learning through play, exploration, and adventure. An excellent communicator who builds trusted relationships with children, families, and colleagues alike. Keen to develop professionally and contribute to the ongoing growth of the setting and team culture. As happy hunting for mini beasts as you are preparing next steps -- someone who sees the magic in nature and the everyday moments with children.
What we're looking for

A solid understanding of child development and in-depth knowledge of the EYFS, including observation, assessment, and planning. Strong leadership and organisational skills, with experience in guiding a team and supporting less experienced practitioners. Confident verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with parents, staff, and external professionals. A positive, can-do attitude with a sense of humour, resilience, and a genuine love for the Early Years. A role model who leads by example, promoting best practice and a warm, inclusive atmosphere.
What we offer

Opportunities for career progression and personal development. Lunch provided daily, including a paid lunch break. Free onsite parking. A pension scheme.
Additional Information

All applicants will undergo a robust recruitment process, including identity checks, Right to Work verification, satisfactory references, and an enhanced DBS check.

Equal Opportunities

Wild Roots is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified individuals, regardless of gender, marital status, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, or age. Selection is based solely on skills, qualifications, and experience.

Safeguarding

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
