Job Description

We are looking for a Room Leader practitioner who is kind, caring and fun. Great changes are underway and you could play a part in the creation of something very special. The nursery has extensive outdoor provision and is located in Kelso where children spend much of their day out of doors. We have a minibus for outings and take regular walks within the community.

The ideal candidate would have a good understanding of children's rights, a sound knowledge of child development, be aware of current framework documents and have experience of planning and observation. Robust knowledge and experience in the care of 1 - 3 year-olds is a pre-requisite. You must be passionate and strive to attain the best outcomes for the children you care for, to enable them to meet their full potential.

Ideally applicants will have had a minimum of 2 years experience in practice in the 1 - 3 year group.

If you have a qualification there may be an opportunity to develop your practice and undertake the SVQ4 which is a management based award which can support access to study towards BA or PDA9.

Evidence of registration with the SSSC is required, or can be applied for. The successful candidate must also secure a satisfactory PVG. We will support you to do so or to update an existing PVG and pay any fees.

We can offer to the right person the following good terms :

28 days fully paid annual leave Salary will be reviewed and increased from April 2026 This is a full time position probably over 4 1/2 days per week at the discretion of the manager and the needs of the nursery.
