Job Description

Would you like to work in a large Integrated Therapy Division within the beautiful countryside of Suffolk?



Opportunities exist for rotational Band 5 Physiotherapist posts within Ipswich Hospital and East Suffolk Community Services. We have a permanent and a fixed term (ending 31st March 2026) full-time position available. Due to service needs, candidates already with HCPC registration will be prioritised. Rotations include, but not limited to:



Medical wards, Older people services, Surgical Wards, Critical care, Orthopaedics, Stroke, Paediatrics, MSK outpatients, Community Hospitals, Community rehab Services



Our therapy teams are well established and enthusiastic about delivering high quality services. We have regular In-Service training sessions, clinical supervision and opportunities to get involved with Quality Improvement projects. We run a Preceptorship Programme for all newly qualified Band 5 therapists. You will be fully supported by senior staff and the Physiotherapy Professional Leads.



To assess, treat and discharge patients. This will require excellent clinical skills, good time management and effective communication with patients and carers to maximise rehabilitation potential and to ensure understanding of the condition. Communication skills of persuasion, motivation, explanation, and gaining consent will be used with a wide variety of patients. Barriers to effective communication will regularly be evident e.g. loss of hearing, altered perception, expressive and receptive dysphasia, pain, and/or fear. Many patients will lack the capacity to consent to treatment.



To delegate to and supervise the work of Physiotherapy/therapy Assistants and Technical Instructors.



To provide advice, teaching and instruction to relatives, carers and other professionals, to promote understanding of the aims of physiotherapy and to ensure a co-ordinated approach to patient care, liaising with senior physiotherapy staff.
