Who We Are

We are the RSPCA North West London and South Hertfordshire Branch, providing animal welfare services across our local branch area.

Job Overview

We are seeking a versatile Van Driver & Maintenance Handyperson to join our small team.

As an important member of our operations, the successful candidate will ensure smooth operations across the Branch by rotating stock between our six charity shops, collecting goods (including small pieces of furniture) from our donors and local businesses, delivering food and supplies to our network of animal fosterers, delivering waste to local waste transfer facilities, maintaining equipment, and performing general repairs across our sites.

Ideal hours per week for this role are 10-15, with some flexibility around days and times dependent on the successful applicant.

Key Responsibilities

Safely operate our vans to transport goods, equipment, and supplies to designated locations, adhering to all traffic laws and safety protocols Perform general maintenance tasks across our shops and animal welfare sites, and ideally also our vehicles - dependent on knowledge and skills Conduct routine inspections of vehicles to ensure proper functioning, including checking fluid levels, tyre pressure, brakes, lights, and other essential components Demonstrate a high level of professionalism when dealing with staff, volunteers, customers, donors, fosterers and members of the general public Maintain records of activities, inspections, repairs, and vehicle logs for accountability and compliance purposes

Skills & Experience

Experience of driving a medium/large van Valid driving license General DIY and maintenance knowledge/skills Good communication and interpersonal skills Adaptability A flair for problem solving
