Based in Rainford in St Helens, Higher Lane is a residential home for up to 4 adults. It is located in a beautiful semi-rural location with great local walks and excellent public transport links.


Those who live at Higher Lane enjoy sensory play, watching films, baking, listening to music, arts and crafts, and attending college for further education.


The people we support enjoy a variety of nearby amenities and places to visit that enrich their daily lives. They love taking local walks and often use public transport to explore different parts of the area. Swimming is a favourite activity, as well as trips out to the beach, nearby farms and even local shopping trips to help with their independenceskills.


As a

Waking Nights Support Worker

, you will empower and promote independence in the people we support during the night, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being. You will lead by example, maintaining the highest standards of care and providing guidance to the team on shift. Your role will include monitoring individuals throughout the night, accurately recording any achievements, health observations, outcomes, and concerns. You will also develop strong relationships with the team and the people we support to ensure a calm, positive:

Job Responsibilities



Provide safe, person-centred care and supervision throughout the night, supporting the wellbeing and comfort of the people in the home. Record night-time observations, incidents and wellbeing checks clearly, ensuring accurate handovers to the day team. Follow care plans, behaviour support strategies and safeguarding protocols, escalating concerns where required. Complete agreed night-time domestic tasks, ensuring the home remains clean, safe and well-presented for the following day. Work confidently during waking night shifts, maintaining professionalism, calm decision-making and strong communication at all times.

What we're looking for



Previous experience in a care or support role is desirable (waking night experience beneficial but not essential). A care-related qualification (e.g. Level 2/3 Health & Social Care or equivalent) is desirable. Warm, person-centred approach with a strong focus on safeguarding, wellbeing and maintaining professional boundaries. Calm, resilient and proactive with the ability to work independently overnight and respond appropriately in unexpected situations. Strong communication and teamwork skills, ensuring accurate recording, confident lone working, and effective handover with day staff.
