An exciting role has arisen to work as a Safeguarding Child Advisor Barnet 0-19 Healthy Child Programme team, where yo u will work as part of a multi-agency team. The role will require you to collate and analyse health information in relation to risk of significant harm, contribute to multi-agency decision making to safeguard and protect children.

Safeguarding Children Advisor will support the Safeguarding Children Team within Barnet 0-19 to ensure staff deliver safe and effective care in line with the Children Act (1989 and 2004), the Care Act (2014), the Children and Social Care Act 2017 and Working Together 2023. Will be required to provide specialist safeguarding advice, and support to Barnet managers and staff. Bring together physical and emotional health services that are designed first and foremost around the needs of the Barnet children, young people (CYP) and their families. To proactively engage with health staff who deliver frontline services and provide specialist children's safeguarding information, advice, guidance, and support to promote the health and welfare of children. The post holder will be required to develop constructive relationships with Multi-agency services and disciplines to ensure that inclusion of appropriate health information is incorporated into a robust multi-agency risk assessment and challenge decisions when appropriate.

Support the development and review of Barnet 0-19 safeguarding policies, guidance, and training packages in line with relevant legislation and the children Intercollegiate Guidance; Safeguarding Children and Young People: Roles and Competencies for Healthcare Staff 2019.

The Safeguarding Children Specialist Advisor is an advanced practitioner. Therefore, the expectation is to demonstrate best practice in terms of clinical responsibilities.



Safeguarding Children Advisor will support the Safeguarding Children Team within Barnet 0-19 to ensure staff deliver safe and effective care in line with the Children Act (1989 and 2004), the Care Act (2014), the Children and Social Care Act 2017 and Working Together 2023.



Will be required to provide specialist safeguarding advice, and support to Barnet managers and staff. Bring together physical and emotional health services that are designed first and foremost around the needs of the Barnet children, young people (CYP) and their families.



To proactively engage with health staff who deliver frontline services and provide specialist children's safeguarding information, advice, guidance, and support to promote the health and welfare of children.



The post holder will be required to develop constructive relationships with multi-agency services and disciplines to ensure that inclusion of appropriate health information is incorporated into a robust multi-agency risk assessment and challenge decisions when appropriate.



To provide safeguarding supervision, consultation, professional advice, guidance and training to staff and to sensitively guide and support staff working with issues related to vulnerable children and families using Think Family Approach.



Supporting safeguarding induction of all members such as students, temporary and staff new to the Barnet 0-19 team.



Support the development and review of Barnet 0-19 safeguarding policies, guidance, and training packages in line with relevant legislation and the children Intercollegiate Guidance; Safeguarding Children and Young People: Roles and Competencies for Healthcare Staff 2019.



Take the lead for a specialist area for Barnet 0-19 as requested, e.g. DA, FGM, Child Criminal/Sexual Exploitation and Neglect etc.



Deliver Barnet 0-19 training and where appropriate multi-agency, safeguarding training as in line with the Intercollegiate Guidance (children) and the Whittington Health Barnet 0-19 relevant policies and procedures.



Support the Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children with the design and completion of clinical audits and tools to measure clinical effectiveness and provide assurance.



There is an expectation of the post holder to be able to highlight and challenge poor practice



Ensure robust safeguarding supervision in line with national and local policies.



Identify, collate, analyse, and appropriately share relevant health information to contribute to multi-agency risk assessments.



Challenge decisions when necessary to ensure the best interests of children are upheld.



The post holder will be required to develop constructive relationships with Multi-agency services and disciplines to ensure that inclusion of appropriate health information is incorporated into a robust multi-agency risk assessment and challenge decisions when appropriate.



To promote awareness of safeguarding and promote good professional practice across the organisation.



The safeguarding children advisor will participate in complex case management at both single and multi-agency levels.



To participate in meetings and forums as associated with the business of safeguarding children, representing health services as a champion on safeguarding children if requested by Named Nurse or Head of Safeguarding.



To engage in local, region-wide and national forums, as associated with safeguarding children/ business and as necessary.



Assist the Named professionals to identify and address, through quality and audit monitoring, evidence to support the Clinical Governance Framework.



To ensure that the voice of the child and the promotion of anti-discrimination are incorporated into all work with children and young people regardless of race, gender, culture, sexuality, disability or language practice welfare.



To ensure record keeping documentation and all identified data system electronic records are up to date and well maintained in accordance with all Whittington Barnet 0-19 policies, guidelines and standards.



The post holder is expected to contribute to the process of Rapid Reviews, Local Learning Reviews, Safeguarding Practice Reviews, Domestic Abuse Related Death Review DARDR and Internal Management Reviews for the organisation with the support from the Named Nurse and Head of Safeguarding.
