Job Overview



East Northants Primary Care Network (PCN) are looking to recruit a Safeguarding Care coordinator

to join their team

. Harborough Fields Surgery will be recruiting for this role on behalf of East Northants PCN.

East Northants Primary Care Network is one of the largest networks of practices in Northamptonshire, comprising of eight innovative GP practices with a population size of 79,100, with practice sizes ranging from 2,500 to 13,000. Practices are located in East Northants area.

This post will

provide safeguarding administrative support

to the eight practices within East Northants Primary Care Network. You will be working with the Safeguarding leads from each practice to achieve a consistent, safe, and effective team approach to safeguarding. You will be based at Harborough Field Surgery, but you will be expected to travel between the East Northants PCN sites.

A good understanding of Safeguarding for both adults and children is essential

, and an understanding of General Practice and Primary Care Networks is desirable. This role would suit someone who is forward-thinking, innovative, and enthusiastic, who is self-motivated and keen to work collaboratively across the network. You should have the ability to be organised, prioritise your workload effectively and exercise sound judgement when faced with conflicting pressures.



To provide

safeguarding administrative support

to the practices within a primary care network. To work with practices to achieve a consistent, safe, and effective team approach to safeguarding.

Responsibilities



Safeguarding policies


Help the practice to ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are up to date and consistent with agreed best practice as defined by local and national guidelines.

Safeguarding training


Support the practice in developing/accessing appropriate role-based training for members of staff. Help the practice run training events which encourage a multidisciplinary approach to safeguarding.

Information governance


Provide advice and training on the recording and coding of safeguarding relevant information within the electronic patient record. Support the preparation of timely, relevant, and proportionate safeguarding reports.

Clinical Governance


Facilitate the implementation of templates and other decision support tools to support best practice in safeguarding, as recommended by the Northamptonshire safeguarding team and audit the use of same.

Safeguarding assurance


Support the practice in achieving CQC compliance with respect to the safeguarding of staff and patients.

MDT facilitato

r
Ensure that practice vulnerable patient registers for both children and adults are maintained and updated regularly. Take the lead for practice safeguarding MDT's, preparing the agenda, minute taking and following up of actions.

Working together


Help the practice foster effective relationships with local safeguarding partners. Ensure the timely sharing of relevant information, both verbally and in a structured report, when safeguarding concerns arise in respect of both children and adults.

Attend relevant meetings with local services to ensure effective sharing of information

Working together with your Team lead to create a healthy working environment and contribute to new ideas and projects.

System learning


Support the practice in responding to statutory requests for information required by the local authority to carry out local child or adult safeguarding case reviews and assist the practice with section 42 enquiries. Disseminate learning and support the implementation of review recommendations.

Referral pathways


Promote the understanding of local safeguarding referral pathways, including Early Help and support services for victims of domestic abuse. Effectively monitor referrals made of a safeguarding nature for patients.

Respect for Patient Confidentiality


The post-holder should always respect patient confidentiality and not divulge patient information unless sanctioned by the requirements of the role.

Special Working Conditions


This role is practice-based working, with the base being Harborough Field Surgery

Although the post-holder is required to travel independently between practice sites (where applicable).

Training, Qualifications & Work Experience



Essential



Experience of safeguarding in any capacity. Experience of working in the health or care sector.

Desirable



NVQ Level 3 in appropriate discipline or equivalent qualifications (or working towards) Experience of direct contact with patients/service users and their carers or families. Experience of working within a multi-professional team. Experience of coordinating meetings. Experience of chairing meetings. Experience of introducing and training on the use of new procedures and protocols. Experience of using electronic health or care records. Experience of working in Primary Care. Experience of clinical terminology and coding. Experience of working with SystmOne.

Skills and Competencies



Essential



Creation of reports using Microsoft Word. Presenting information using Microsoft PowerPoint. Displaying numerical or graphical information using Microsoft Excel.

Desirable



Auditing adherence of colleagues to organisational policies and procedures. Creating a chronology of events from a health or care record based on a protocol. Identifying risk factors from a clinical or care record based on a protocol.

Other Requirements



Essential



Meets DBS reference standards and criminal record checks. Access to own transport and ability to travel across the locality on a regular basis. Appropriate emotional resilience given the nature of the role. Able to use a keyboard and VDU for sustained periods as required by the role.

Pay: 26,000.00-29,000.00 per year
