THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Systems Safety Engineer to support the delivery of safety-critical defence systems. The role involves conducting safety assessments, developing safety documentation, and supporting compliance with regulatory and customer safety standards across the system lifecycle.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform hazard identification and analysis (e.g. FMEA, FTA, SWIFT, HAZOP). Develop and maintain safety cases, including evidence and argumentation using Goal Structuring Notation (GSN). Define and manage safety requirements and ensure traceability to design and verification. Support system-level safety assessments for hardware and software integration. Contribute to safety planning, compliance activities, and reviews with internal and external stakeholders.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

Experience in safety engineering within defence, aerospace, or similarly regulated sectors Proficient in safety analysis techniques and standards (e.g. DEF STAN 00-056, IEC 61508, MIL-STD-882). Familiar with safety case development and use of GSN. Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and integration challenges .
