We have an exciting opportunity for a Safety, Health and Environment Specialist (Manager / Advisor) to join our team in

Kingswinford.





The SHE specialist is the subject matter expert, understanding relevant standards and translating them into understandable plans, to continually improve SHE culture and performance. They promote SHE across the business, especially in high volume / risk teams, ensuring requirements are met and evidence is available. They are the 'face' of our business with external partners and contacts including HSE. As we transition more responsibility for BAU H&S to line leaders the SHE specialist provides drive and commitment as well as technical expertise and direction to the management team. Supporting development of core skills such as accident investigation, risk assessment, process design and health and wellbeing management. They will also work with the Quality team to advise on containments, corrective and preventative actions as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities





The main output of this role is to continually improve the culture and performance of Safety, Health and Environment, by building strong relationships, influencing behaviour and through activity such as:

Assist leaders to promote strong SHE practice Further develop hazard and near miss reporting process to drive a proactive safety culture Ensure continued adherence to ISO45001and ISO14001 standards, involving other colleagues Review health surveillance and wellbeing plan, implementing changes for improvement Work towards automation of KPI reporting, linking to business reviews as appropriate and developing measures to continually improve SHE performance Maintain audit schedule and carry out audits Chair H&S meetings and follow up on actions Conduct safety walks to highlight opportunity for improvement and drive positive change Champion continuous improvement workshops to reduce waste, save energy and decrease emissions Seek opportunities to reduce emissions and energy consumption for the whole UK operation Ensure that there is a mechanism to monitor, review and update the legal, asset and risk registers Ensure contractor control / CDM regs compliance Ensure all waste carriers' licences, SIC Codes and discharge licences are current and compliant Create robust handover plans for respective business areas to take complete ownership, including local and business level reporting.

Requirements:

Previous experience in a safety role within an operational environment A motivated individual with a CI mindset, able to understand complex information and translate this to non-expert peers to drive practical, positive change and sharing of ideas and best practice Tenacious and robust, with the ability to deliver tangible improvements Inclusive and able to drive change and adherence, reviewing existing operations then recommending improvements, driving these through in practice Background in H&S, including audit and risk assessment in an operations environment Demonstrable record of total system environmental improvement Numerate and able to understand engineered systems Experience of working with ISO 45001, 18001 and 14001 standards, including audit procedures Able to use expertise and communication skills to educate others, including delivering presentations and training.
