The Salaried GP will provide high-quality medical care to the practices registered patients in accordance with GMC standards, the BMA Model Contract, and NHS England guidance. The successful candidate will manage a diverse range of clinical presentations, work closely with colleagues to deliver coordinated care, and contribute to the overall functioning and development of the practice. You will be expected to undertake a range of clinical and administrative duties and to contribute to the practices continuous improvement processes. Main Duties and Responsibilities Clinical Care Provide safe, evidence-based clinical care to patients through face-to-face, telephone, video, and online consultations. Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions, referring to secondary care where clinically appropriate. Provide appropriate treatment and management plans that align with NICE guidelines and local pathways. Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive clinical records using EMIS Web in accordance with GMC and CQC requirements.
Review and action pathology results, correspondence, and repeat prescription requests. Deliver continuity of care and manage a defined list of patients where appropriate. Prescribing Prescribe in accordance with national and local guidelines, ensuring safe and cost-effective use of medication. Work collaboratively with the practices clinical pharmacists to support effective prescribing and medication reviews.
Preventive and Holistic Care Promote health education and disease prevention to support patients in leading healthier lifestyles. Participate in practice-led health campaigns and national screening and immunisation programmes. Support patients with long-term conditions through proactive management and personalised care planning. Teamwork and Collaboration Work closely with GP partners, salaried GPs, nurses, pharmacists, and the wider primary care team.
Participate in daily clinical huddles, multidisciplinary meetings, and case discussions. Provide guidance and support to other team members within your scope of practice. Collaborate with community and secondary care colleagues to ensure seamless patient care. Administrative Responsibilities Undertake administrative duties relating to patient care, including completing referrals, reviewing results, and signing repeat prescriptions.
Contribute to maintaining accurate clinical coding and records. Participate in the development and implementation of practice protocols and policies. Support the practice in meeting contractual requirements under the GMS contract and Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF). Practice Development Engage in quality improvement projects and audits to improve patient care and service delivery.
Participate in clinical governance activities, significant event reviews, and patient safety meetings. Contribute to the development of new services and pathways that enhance patient care. Offer ideas and feedback on how the practice can continue to improve efficiency and patient satisfaction. Professional Development Maintain registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and inclusion on the NHS Performers List.
Participate in annual appraisal, revalidation, and continuing professional development (CPD). Attend practice meetings and educational sessions to support ongoing learning and collaboration. Engage in reflective practice and peer review to continuously improve clinical standards. Confidentiality and Data Protection Maintain strict confidentiality of patient, practice, and staff information at all times.
