Job Description

Laurel House Surgery is looking for a Salaried GP to join our existing team, providing 4-6 sessions per week. ( Wednesday, Thursday and possible Friday)

Within Laurel House, we currently have 4 Partners, 2 Salaried GPs, 1 ANP, 3 PAs, 1 Paramedic, 2 Pharmacists, 4 Practice Nurses, 2 HCAs and 1 Phlebotomist - all of whom value collaborative working, support each other to provide high quality patient care and encourage getting the right work-life balance.

The practice is a training practice and we currently have 3 STs in addition to medical students.

We are high QOF achievers with a list size around 12,700 patients based across 2 sites and work to a high standard to deliver quality care and provide a wide range of enhanced and local services to patients. We have embraced new ways of working by making the best use of technology and working with the wider MDT.

Main duties of the job



The post-holder will provide general medical services managing a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients

Job description



Provide consultations to patients at the practice by taking histories, examination, investigations, including diagnostic tests. Treating patients and prescribing appropriate medication. Referring patients or providing advice, as appropriate.

Management of long term conditions.

Conducting consultations via telephone and in person.

Recording notes of consultations in an accurate and timely manner on the practices clinical system (EMIS).

Providing clinical advice and support to other clinical staff and respond to queries from the administrative teams.

Attend and participate in regular practice and multidisciplinary meetings.

Develop care plans in consultation with patients.

Participate in clinical audits within the practice.

Contribute to the development of protocols and clinical standards within the practice

Contribute to the ongoing development of the practice, including identifying opportunities for service development.

Carrying out home visits when required

Reviewing and acting on correspondence relating to patients

The postholder will be expected to undertake all duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within a primary care team

Awareness of and compliance with all relevant Practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety

A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice

To attend local protected learning time events.

Responsibilities outside the organisation. To engage with events and learning organised by organisations related to health care development in the locality and in particular the Mercian PCN and the Staffordshire CCG.

Participate in the review of significant events and complaints to encourage learning.

Recent experience of working in general practice in the UK Commitment to and experience of working as part of a multi- disciplinary and skill mixed team environment Experience of working to achieve standards within the Quality and Outcome Framework (QOF) Evidence of independent working in General Practice Experience of supporting service change Teaching of GP Reg/ Physician Associate students/Nursing students Evidence of participation in Audit
