The Role at a glance:





Title: Sales and Business Development Director



Location: Flexible. But Head Office is Oisterwijk, NL and we also have offices in Doncaster, UK.



Salary: 73k to 86k base (dependent on experience) plus 25% of base salary commission/performance bonus



Type: Full Time - Permanent



As Sales and Business Development Director, you will lead from the front, being responsible for shaping and continually improving the overall sales processes and procedures for the business. You'll build trusted relationships with new and existing clients, with responsibilities spanning sales and marketing strategy and the on-going development of a high functioning, commercially astute sales team. You will be instrumental in securing high-value contracts and scaling our solutions in a rapidly evolving industry.



The role requires a balance of sales leadership and direct client engagement. As part of the senior management team, you will help shape the company's strategic direction and drive consistent revenue growth.

Reporting to the CEO, you will:




Lead the sales and marketing team with a focus on expanding our reach within our target markets. Closely cooperate with your Country MD's to improve our customer relations, minimizing the churn rates. Build a professional and sustainable marketing strategy and develop the team to execute it. Develop and nurture meaningful client relationships, positioning our innovations and technical expertise to create shared value. Collaborate with the senior management team to help shape the business's strategic direction, ensuring consistent, profitable revenue growth.



Key Responsibilities:




Develop and execute the global sales and growth strategy for our rail safety solutions Lead, mentor and grow a high performing commercial team Build strategic partnerships with rail operators, infrastructure providers, regulatory bodies and technology providers in our eco-system Support our Managing Directors in effectively embedding your sales strategy within their own territory Identify and secure new business in UK, France, The Netherlands and Germany and develop additional international markets Oversee all territory tendering, proposal development and contract negotiations Coordinate product development with the Product Owners to effectively manage business development pipeline Develop and lead our marketing initiatives, in collaboration with our marketing department, to develop and execute innovative (AI-supported) go-to-market strategies, and introduce fresh and creative ideas to the business, including the packaging and positioning of our solutions and services Represent the company at industry events, trade shows and technical forums Clear and regular reporting to the CEO (Budget, Forecast, KPI's, Results Ytd)



What We're Looking For:




A team player ready to build, lead and drive the Sales and Marketing team Proven track record in senior sales or business development roles, ideally in rail, transportation or safety-critical technology sectors Proven experience in Marketing Good understanding and preferably experience with IT sector & 'Solution selling' Basic understanding of IOT and telecommunications Deep understanding of the rail industry's procurement processes, regulations and safety standards Strong network across rail operators and/or infrastructure managers Strategic thinker with excellent commercial acumen, negotiation expertise and sound judgment in complex sales scenarios Ability to influence at C-level and communicate complex technology solutions clearly, with the ability to craft compelling proposals Passion for innovation, safety and making a tangible impact Evidence of successful leadership of high-performance sales teams, securing significant new wins, setting commission plans, and driving results Passion for innovation, safety and making a tangible impact The role requires someone with an excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal. Although not essential, multi lingual capabilities would be a significant advantage in the role, given its international scope. Proven experience in implementing various pricing strategies & long term contracts
