Role Overview



Tate Fuel Oils is a long-established, independent family-owned fuel distributor supplying heating oil, gas oil and commercial fuels across Yorkshire and the North of England.

We are seeking a

Sales & Operations Manager - Bulk Fuels

to lead the commercial and Sales operational performance of our bulk fuel business. This is a hands-on role responsible for driving

sales growth, margin performance, customer retention and operational efficiency

through the activities of the sales team.

This role combines

commercial leadership

ensuring that sales, pricing, procurement and delivery are tightly aligned to deliver profitable growth and outstanding customer service. This is not an operations manager role but sales focused working closely with operations Managers

Key Responsibilities



Sales & Commercial Management



Develop and deliver

sales strategies

to achieve monthly, quarterly and annual

volume and gross margin targets



Lead and motivate the sales team to grow:

Domestic heating oil customers Commercial/agricultural gas oil and fuel oil accounts Key contract and multi-site customers
Manage and grow

key customer accounts

, maintaining strong long-term relationships

Monitor competitor pricing and market movements to optimise

pricing, margins and retention



Analyse sales, churn, margin and volume data to identify opportunities for growth

Operations & Supply Chain Management.

This is a sales led role working with the Operations Manager, these are key metrics.

Drive continuous improvement in: Delivery efficiency Cost per drop Margin per litre Fleet utilisation

People & Performance Leadership



Lead, coach and develop:

Sales staff Customer service teams Drive the Tate sales methodology through the team
Set clear targets, accountability and performance standards

Conduct regular performance reviews, team meetings and KPI reporting

Build a high-performance culture focused on

profit, service and professionalism



Financial & Reporting



Own the commercial and operational performance of the bulk fuel business

Manage:

Revenue Gross margin
Track and report key KPIs including:

Litres delivered Margin per litre Customer retention
Provide clear weekly and monthly reporting to the Leadership Team

About You



You will be a high energy, commercially driven operator who understands how fuel distribution actually works.

You will likely come from:



A bulk fuel distributor A heating oil or commercial fuel business A logistics-driven energy or commodities business

Experience



5-10 years' experience in

fuel, logistics, energy or multi-site distribution leadership



Proven track record of:

Managing sales teams Growing profitable volume Growing New depots and focus areas.
Strong understanding of

fuel pricing, margins, supply chains and delivery economics

Package & Benefits



On-Target Earnings:

50,000 - 100,000+ depending on performance

Includes:
