About the Role
As a Sales Operator, you will be the dedicated point of contact for a portfolio of existing customers, managing the full shipment lifecycle from booking through to final invoicing. You will play a key role in maintaining strong customer relationships, ensuring smooth operational delivery, and protecting commercial margins through accurate costing and cost control.
Key Responsibilities
Customer & Operations
Act as the main contact for assigned customers, ensuring their transport needs are met with a high level of service.
Provide proactive and clear communication on shipment progress and operational updates.
Coordinate with internal teams and external transport providers to ensure on-time collections and deliveries.
Monitor supplier charges against customer agreements to protect gross profit.
Administration
Accurately enter orders into the Transport Management System (TMS).
Ensure all required customs and transport documentation is obtained and distributed correctly.
Execute consignments in line with customer requirements and supplier instructions.
Ensure all files are correctly costed, charged, and invoiced within agreed timeframes.
Report any changes to customer activity or downtrading that may impact GP to the Business Development Manager.
Team & Compliance
Work collaboratively with the wider Tamworth Sales team to maintain service standards and balance workloads.
Communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels.
Ensure all activities comply with transport, customs, environmental, and company compliance policies.
Maintain a safe working environment and report any health and safety concerns.
What We're Looking For

High attention to detail, particularly in data entry and financial costing.

Desirable
Experience using Transport Management Systems (TMS).
Knowledge of road freight operations and customs requirements.
Understanding of transport, customs, and environmental regulations.
Full UK driving licence.
