Role Purpose





We are seeking a high-potential individual to join our dynamic commercial team in a newly created Trainee role focused on Channel Sales and Specification Development. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong academic background in either Commercial or Engineering and Business Management, looking to forge a successful career in a commercial, customer-facing environment.



You will gain exposure to every stage of the technical sales process - from demand creation and project specification to commercial negotiation and channel engagement - working closely with consultants, specifiers, distributors, and end users across our EMEA territories.




Who you'll report to





UK Sales Manager


What you'll be doing:




Engage in a structured training programme covering product knowledge, industry regulations, sales strategy, and customer engagement. Support Regional Sales Managers in identifying and developing new business opportunities through specification-led sales activity. Assist in preparing compliant proposals and supporting consultants with project design and product selection. Develop relationships with key influencers such as consultants, fire engineers, and M&E contractors to generate demand for Hochiki solutions. Collaborate with the Channel Sales Manager on managing projects via the Distribution Channel. Conduct research to identify upcoming projects, understand market trends, and track competitor activity. Participate in site visits, client meetings, exhibitions, and CPD seminars to build industry experience and promote the Hochiki brand. Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Marketing, Technical Support, and Product Management to align demand generation efforts.

Person Specification





We are looking for individuals who are highly motivated and have a passion to contribute to the success of Hochiki. In addition to this, you will possess the following:



Essential:

A keen interest in developing a long-term career in sales, specification, or commercial aspects. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to present to internal and external audiences. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Commercial awareness, customer focus, and an analytical mindset. Willingness to travel across the UK and EMEA, as required. Must be commutable distance to Gillingham HQ

Desirable:

A recently completed degree in Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a similar sales discipline, ideally combined with Business Management. Internship or experience within sales, technical support, business development, or engineering consultancy. Awareness of the building services industry, life safety, or fire protection sectors. Fluency in an additional European language is advantageous.
