Job Description

LinkAble is a Woking based charity that supports people with a learning disability and autistic people to create the life they want to live.??Each year, LinkAble provides over 300 children, young people, and adults access to a wide range of activities that develop skills, confidence, and lasting friendships.

Role



1. JOB PURPOSE



Working as part of a team you will assist in delivering a wide range of activities for young people with a learning disability or autism, within the framework of LinkAble's policies and procedures. In conjunction with colleagues, ensure a fun, always stimulating and safe environment for children and young people.

2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



As part of the team, assist with preparing and delivering quality play opportunities within a safe and caring environment. Ensure a fun, always stimulating and safe environment for children and young people. To support and enable children and young people to develop their independence appropriate to each individual whilst supporting participation within a group setting To provide 1:1 support to the children and young people who require additional support in areas such as eating and drinking, personal care, communication, mobility and / or behaviour ensuring dignity and respect at all times. To promote a healthy living agenda by providing the children and young people with the appropriate information about healthier lifestyles and healthy alternatives with regard to food and drink therefore enabling them to make informed choices. Support with the preparation and offering of refreshments and ensuring that hygiene, health and safety standards are met. Administer first aid when necessary - if qualified to do so, training will be provided. Monitor, record and report to the Group Leader any developments or changes to the service. Be aware of your own role with regards to safeguarding, the children must always be within sight and sound of staff, be proactive in reporting any concerns you may have to the DSL and be professionally curious with a 'it could happen here' attitude. Facilitate good communication with all members of the organisation, parents, and school. Undertake appropriate and relevant training. Keep the work environment healthy, safe, and secure at all times. Work within the framework LinkAbles policies and procedures. Be a positive role model, including being compassionate, caring and showing respect to everyone on site.

No previous experience is required however you may be studying or have an interest in studying childcare, psychology or medicine and be looking for practical experience.



3. Qualities



You will have a warm encouraging and caring personality with a willingness to have fun while supporting and engaging with the young people. You must be confident and enthusiastic and able to encourage and help others. You must have good communication and interpersonal skills and be able to interact well with both children and your team members. You must be reliable, honest and trustworthy.

We have a comprehensive e-learning programme offering up to 20 courses for you to develop skills and enhance your CV, including Induction, Safeguarding, Disability Awareness and First Aid training courses.

All appointments are subject to satisfactory Enhanced DBS (we arrange) and references

Pay: Between 8.46 - 13.68(depending on age)
