Job Description

We are looking for a friendly and helpful people to work part-time in our lovely village store. We provide an important local service so a desire to provide great community-focussed service is essential.You must be extremely reliable and looking for a longer term position.

Applicants must be confident and happy to work solo (after training). You must have a proactive approach to work, prioritising customers but also ensuring the store remains clean and tidy, the shelves well stocked and new deliveries put away. Some moving of heavy objects is necessary.

The role is a very responsible one. You must be numerate and show great attention to detail to ensure accuracy of cash transactions and till data entry. You must strictly follow Post Office procedures and comply with the high standards required by both us and Post Office Ltd.

Experience is preferred but not essential for someone willing to learn. You must be aged 18 or over. A criminal records check will be undertaken.

Your own vehicle may be necessary to get to the village due to no public transport, though a subsidised bus service may be available from Andover and some villages (details available). Barton Stacey is 15 minutes north of Winchester and 10 minutes east of Andover, close to the A30 & A303.

The times of work are normally 11am to 6.30pm Saturday but additional hours in the week will be offered from time to time. (We also have a few permanent hours currently available midweek if interested.)

Initial training may be at different times/days to the agreed working hours. If more than one suitable applicant applies we may be able to offer rotating weeks, if this is what all parties prefer.
