We are a small, registered charity looking for an enthusiastic Teen Club leader to work alongside volunteers to provide a safe, stimulating and fun environment for teens with additional needs.
Set up the club to ensure a welcoming and safe environment when families arrive.
Greet the teens and their parents/carers.
Maintain accurate attendance records in line with data protection policy.
Communicate effectively with parents/carers, colleagues, trustees and volunteers.
Plan and deliver a range of activities based on the needs of the group.
Supervise teens adhering to relevant policies, for example, safeguarding children.
Designate key responsibilities to colleagues and volunteers and monitor their progress.
Establish positive working relationships with the venue and caretaker.
Ensure the club always follows charity policy and procedures such as when assessing risk, and health and safety requirements.
Complete incident reports when required.
Tidy away toys and activities at the end of the session.
Celebrate diversity and promote inclusive practice.
Undertake relevant training as required.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
Childcare qualification and experience working in a childcare setting for teenagers (desirable).
Experience of working with children who have Special Educational Needs (desirable).
An awareness of policies around Child Protection/safeguarding of children though training will be provided.
Be passionate about making a difference to children and their parents/carers.
Excellent communication skills.
Paediatric First Aid qualification, though training will be provided.
The post holder will be subject to an enhanced DBS check to satisfy child protection requirements.
