Sawyer - Timber Specialist Site, Taff's Wells - Robert Price (Builders' Merchants) Ltd.

We are looking for a skilled Sawyer to operate and maintain sawmill equipment at our Timber Specialist site in Taff's Wells, Cardiff.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of sawmill operation and attention to detail.

A builders' merchant is a company which supplies materials to the construction sector.

Hours:

40 hours per week to be worked from Monday to Friday, between the hours 7:30am - 4:30pm.

Pay:

Negotiable according to experience.

Duties:

Cut and shape timber using specific tools and machinery. Run and control a variety of wood cutting machines. Ensure outstanding customer service at every opportunity. Ensure designated the Mill Work Area's and Stock Locations are kept clean, tidy and free of any hazards at all times. Produce high level of quality products, meeting specifications of detailed plans. Complete all machining using appropriate H&S equipment and following appropriate Risk Assessments and Procedures Complete Daily Machine Checks and Daily LEV Checks as required by Supervisor. Ensure timely reporting of stock issues to Mill Supervisor such as low stock, damage, quality

Essential Skills:

NVQ or equivalent in wood machining. 2 years' experience in wood mill or similar role. Experience working on various machines such as cross cut saw, panel saw, 9 by 4 six cutter machine, 4 sided planer, Stena 48 band saw, Panel planer, Spindle moulder. Naturally tidy and organised. High levels of accuracy and attention to detail. Able to follow instructions and work unsupervised with initiative. A proven team player. Manual handling up to 25kg. A confident communicator with a willingness to engage with customers and provide good service.

Desirable:

An interest in the construction and retail industries.
