ABOUT THE ROLE

The Scholarly Communications Assistant is a key member of the Library\'s Scholarly Communications team that supports the research activities of the University. The post holder will work closely with academic and administrative colleagues to administer the flow, monitoring and analysis of research output data to ensure that the metadata is complete, accurate and entered correctly into the current research information system, Pure. You will provide advice and support to academic staff, responding to queries either directly via Teams, email or face-to-face. The post-holder will contribute to the administration of a central University publication fund for open-access article processing charges.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The Scholarly Communications Team in the University Library provides expert support and guidance on routes to publication, compliance with Research Funder policies on publishing and best practice in Open Scholarship. In addition to providing administrative, technical and publishing support for journals hosted on our Northumbria Journals platform, we deliver advocacy, guidance, training and support across all areas of open research, including open access, research data management, bibliometrics and research assessment. We work with colleagues in the University Library and Research and Innovation Services to support research active staff and students across the institution.

We are looking for a proactive, self-motivated professional with an interest in or knowledge of current activity in open-access publishing and open research. You will be able to develop and maintain good working relationships, possess the ability to work with multiple systems and complete tasks with the utmost accuracy.
