Your Role at Young Giants:




We are currently seeking an experienced tutor to work on the Maiden Erlegh school site (https://www.maidenerleghschool.co.uk/) in Reading tutoring KS3/4 learners on a 1:1 or small group basis. Although you will be working on the school site, you will be employed by Young Giants on a PAYE fixed-term contract and managed and directed by Young Giants Head Office. You will set outcomes independently of school curriculum and will assess and monitor progress according to Young Giants policy.



Candidates must have a sound understanding of supporting children and young people with SEN including ASD/ASC, ADHD and SEMH. We pride ourselves on delivering creative alternatives to schools and are looking to work with tutors and mentors who are able to think creatively about learning and willing to go the extra mile for their learners.

Person Specification:





Minimum Bachelor's Degree or strong youth work experience/qualification Minimum 2 years teaching or mentoring learners with SEND, SEMH or complexities in schools, youth groups or private settings Enhanced DBS on the DBS Update system or willingness to have one carried out Commitment to the overall academic development of learners, including working to re-engage them in learning Willingness to commit to a fixed term contract Ability to travel to the above location Secure understanding of safeguarding

What Young Giants offer:



Hours per week: 37.5 (30 hours contact time, 7.5hrs planning time) Days: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm with 30-minute unpaid lunchbreak Salary: 38K pro-rata to length of service (likely to be from Sept - July, so approx. 11 months - monthly salary calculated 38K / 12) paid in equal instalments on the last working day of the month. Paid leave: Due to demand in this contract, contact time will be term-time only. The tutor will be retained in employment during school holiday breaks (non-contact days) and will continue to be paid in full for those days. The tutor will not be expected to work in any other capacity during school holiday breaks. Duration: Fixed term contract ending July 2026. Notice period inside the fixed-term is one month (after probationary period). * Pension: 3% company pension contribution after 3 months' service.
