Job Overview

We are currently seeking to appoint a Part-time School Caretaker. This role will suit someone living in the local area looking for a part time role, or possibly a university student who is available for the hours below.

The core are 0700 to 0900 Monday to Friday - 52 weeks per annum, with two further hours per week at one of our other school locations. There may be ad hoc additional hours available.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for opening the nursery school site each morning and completing checks of the external areas to ensure the safety of pupils and staff. The job holder is responsible for ensuring the outside space is maintained to a high standard, always in a safe, clean and secure condition.

Notify and assist (if able) with the prompt repair and rectification of faults (internal and external), with due regard for the health, safety and welfare of all users.

Occasional cleaning work in evenings to cover staff absence.

Duties

Responsible for opening the school site in the morning, following agreed process, always ensuring the safety of pupils and staff. Responsible for all external?areas of the site, ensuring these are?well lit,?clean,?and?safe, promptly identifying faults, removal of waste from the site,?daily safety checks of perimeter walls and fencing?and gritting in?freezing conditions. Daily checks and setting up of external play equipment to interest and encourage play opportunities. Carrying out?internal and external?preventative maintenance and?applying basic fixes as required. Notifying the Health and Safety Compliance Manager?of?any?faults and assessing?their?priority. Manage all tools and materials and ensure these are stored safely. Check functionality of?all?safety systems, following agreed?processes for testing?(e.g.?weekly call point testing,?intruder?alarm?faults). Compliance with health and safety requirements to ensure the health, safety and welfare of all users including contractors. Ad hoc additional work outside core hours as agreed (including occasional evening cleaning duties covering staff absence (normally between 1800 and 2100).
