Overview

We are seeking a passionate and skilled chef to join our Special Education Needs School. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in kitchen operations and a commitment to delivering high-quality meals. As a chef, you will play a vital role in meal preparation and food safety, ensuring that our students and staff enjoy delicious and nutritious meals.

This is a school termly position requiring a daily running of a school kitchen with an assistant.

Working hours will typically be 7:00am - 3:00pm

Responsibilities

Prepare and cook a weekly menu for the school. Prepare and bake bread, biscuits and cakes for daily snacks. Assist with meal preparation, ensuring all ingredients are fresh and properly stored. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, adhering to food safety regulations. Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service during lunch periods. Monitor food quality during preparation and presentation to ensure it meets required standards. Help with inventory management, including ordering supplies when necessary. Participate in training new kitchen staff on cooking techniques and food safety practices.

Requirements

Proven experience as a chef or in a similar culinary role within a school setting. Strong knowledge of food preparation of a range of cuisines including: British, Asian, Caribbean, African, European, Mexican and South American. Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices in the kitchen. Ability to work efficiently under pressure according to a daily schedule. Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail. Flexibility to work various shifts, including outside your ordinary place of work, but with sufficient notice to you. Familiarity with learners with SEN is an advantage.

Pay: 32,000.00-35,000.00 per year
