West House School is seeking a part-time, term-time only Minibus Driver to start as soon as possible.

The ideal candidate will be a proactive and friendly individual with a full, clean driving licence and the qualification to drive a minibus. The role holder will be able to drive the school minibuses in a responsible and competent manner, ensuring the safety of passengers, other road users and members of the public at all times.

Reporting to: Bursar

Key tasks:



Minibus Driving



Drive the school minibuses in a safe and responsible manner. Ensure the safety, comfort and welfare of the children on the minibus. Carry out daily and weekly vehicle checks and carry out basic maintenance. Report any vehicle defects, faults, incidents and accidents. Be responsible for the cleanliness of vehicles, inside and out and ensure the vehicle is in a clean and roadworthy condition before and after use. Refuel vehicles as required. Maintain accurate records of vehicle usage Maintain accurate records of the children using the service each day. Maintain and help to promote a good school image while driving the minibus Work within health and safety guidelines and other guidelines that may be issued from time to time Plan alternative road routes to and from school when necessary and keep parents informed of any changes Attend relevant training courses as identified and agreed, including Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme (MiDAS) training

General:



The role holder will be expected to be flexible and carry out any other duties as reasonably instructed by the Bursar, Headmaster or any other senior member of staff. In general, they will be expected to:

Support the aims, ethos and expectations of the school. Work effectively as part of a team and to promote the smooth running and efficiency of the school. Work within the agreed framework of the school's policies and procedures. Attend staff meetings, staff development and training as appropriate to your position. Carry out such other duties which will enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the department and the school. Liaise with outside agencies as appropriate. Keep all information regarding the school, pupils and staff completely confidential at all times.

Person Specification



Essential:

A good command of the English language Full, clean driving licence Minibus driving either as part of driving licence or separate qualification Experience of working in a driving role Knowledge of health and safety requirements relating to minibus driving and basic vehicle maintenance Ability to keep control of children and be sensitive to user needs Ability to maintain accurate vehicle and user records Proven ability to work as a member of a team Ability to prioritise and carry out specific requests in a timely manner Ability to work on own initiative Ability to communicate well with all stakeholders both verbally and in writing A flexible and self-motivated attitude A willingness to undertake training and development as required Willingness to promote and support the school's aims, ethos, safeguarding policies and procedures

Salary

: 12.42 - 12.89 per hour according to experience.

Hours of Work

:

Monday to Thursday: 7.30am to 8.45am
Friday: 7.30am to 8.45am and 1.00pm to 4.00pm

A total of 9 hours and 15 minutes per week

Holidays:

22 days annual leave plus bank holidays, to be taken during school holiday and shut down periods.
